Tour Overview

Package code: 253 · Duration: 10 Days · Transport: By Air. Experience a 10-day journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Skardu and Hunza — Deosai National Park, Shangrila, Sadpara Lake, the Karakoram Highway, Attabad Lake and the forts of Hunza. This couple’s package blends comfortable air travel, private transport and hand-picked hotels for a relaxed, scenic holiday in the heart of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Skardu

Board your morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu — one of the most scenic air routes in the world, with views of Nanga Parbat and the Karakoram. On arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel to settle in and relax at altitude. The evening is free to stroll along the Indus riverfront and ease into the mountain pace.

Day 2 — Fort, Mosque, and Valley

After breakfast, visit the historic Kharpocho Fort perched above the Indus, then drive out toward the lush Shigar and Khaplu valleys with their orchards, old palaces and the centuries-old Chaqchan Mosque. Enjoy the terraced fields and traditional Balti villages along the way before returning to Skardu by evening.

Day 3 — Waterfalls, Rock, and Deserts

Drive to the thundering Manthoka Waterfall and the ancient Manthal Buddha Rock carvings that date back over a thousand years. In the afternoon, explore the surreal cold desert of Skardu — a stretch of sand dunes framed by snow peaks and the winding Indus. Stay for a memorable sunset over the dunes.

Day 4 — Lakes, Fort and Shopping

Spend the day at the turquoise Shangrila (Lower Kachura) and Upper Kachura lakes, with time for photos, tea and optional boating. Visit the beautifully restored Shigar Fort, now a heritage hotel, to glimpse Balti royal history. Wrap up with some relaxed shopping for local gems, dry fruit and handicrafts in Skardu bazaar.

Day 5 — Roof of the World and Sadpara Lake

Take an excursion toward the edge of the Deosai Plateau — the “Roof of the World” — a vast alpine wilderness of wildflowers, streams and grazing marmots. Pause at the beautiful Sadpara Lake, the source of Skardu’s water, for photographs and quiet time. Return to Skardu by evening for dinner and rest.

Day 6 — Skardu to Hunza Road Journey (KKH)

Begin the spectacular drive north along the Karakoram Highway, one of the world’s great road journeys. Pass the famous confluence where the Indus, Gilgit and Hunza rivers meet and three mighty mountain ranges — the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush — come together. Arrive in Hunza by evening and check in with views of Rakaposhi.

Day 7 — Hunza Exploration and Karakoram views

Explore upper Hunza with its terraced fields and stone villages beneath towering Rakaposhi. Visit the stunning Attabad Lake, cross the Hussaini suspension bridge and admire the iconic Passu Cones. The day is filled with sweeping Karakoram panoramas and plenty of photo stops along the KKH.

Day 8 — Hunza History and Sunset Panorama

Discover Hunza’s history at the 700-year-old Baltit Fort and the even older Altit Fort standing above the river gorge. In the late afternoon, head up to the Eagle’s Nest viewpoint for a legendary sunset over Rakaposhi, Diran and Golden Peak as the valley glows. Overnight in Hunza.

Day 9 — Hunza to Skardu Road Journey through Karakoram

Retrace the breathtaking Karakoram Highway back toward Skardu, stopping at viewpoints and riverside villages you may have missed on the way up. Enjoy the changing light on the peaks and a relaxed lunch en route. Arrive in Skardu for your final night in the mountains.

Day 10 — Departure to Islamabad

After breakfast, transfer to Skardu airport for your morning flight back to Islamabad, with one last aerial view of the mighty Karakoram. The tour concludes on arrival in Islamabad. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon.
